Hi everyone!
I know that staying at home feels like the days merge into one another, Wednesday is no different to a Friday or even Saturday! But the sun is shining and hopefully doing our part and staying safe, will help the current situation.
I have been trying to make use of the many resources available to us all so I'm sharing this on the blog in the hope that you too can benefit from them!
Top five resources that I have been enjoying:
1. The Corporate Law Academy - filled with material and forums, TCLA has created a lovely online community where students and aspiring lawyers connect with one another and make use of gaining feedback on applications, completing law courses to help with the application process and just communicate with others who are in the same boat! I love browsing the forums and checking up on friends on there! I am a premium member (and would highly recommend this if you want to gain access to the extra courses, application feedback and private forums). Check it out here.
2. InsiderSherpa - many firms have created virtual work experience programs which I have been keeping track of. To name a few:
- Latham & Watkins - M&A Virtual Experience Program
- Pinsent Masons - Virtual Experience Programme (UK)
- Linklaters - Virtual Experience Programme
3. Podcasts - I have always enjoyed a good podcast - Law and non-law related topics. I used to listen to them during my commute to work (and laugh to myself on a packed central line train #awk) Some of the podcasts I have really enjoyed:
- Legallyspeaking - pretty much all their episodes have been fun and useful, in particular podcasts with Eloise Skinner, Harry Clark, Samantha Lewis and Chrissie Wolfe.
- Trainee Talk - this is another resource created by Jaysen Sutton, TCLA founder and I found the tips and insights from Banu Hammad really great!
- Wellbeing Weekly - Michelle Kerr shares lots of positivity and wellbeing tips. In particular, I found her reflections on 2019 highly relatable and motivating.
4. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - This is vital for solicitors and I would say important for us all. I personally see it as personal development as well and anything that keeps you learning and developing adds to your growth and value. I have been focussing on more CPD whilst WFH and making use of free webinars and training sessions that are run by other law firms and The Law Society.
5. Instagram Live Videos - this has been super cool and useful! Aside from the live make-up videos (yup staying at home gets you to watch everything and a n y t h i n g lol) a lot of firms, solicitors and bloggers are doing insta-live videos and they're super cool! It's a good way to connect and get some questions answered but also useful for interactive sessions and Q&As. Some of the recent accounts I've checked out are @valerialipovetsky, @mimiikonn, @eloiseallexia.
