Open Book Assessment Tips

Happy summer time!

Today marks the clocks going forward an hour and what better time to get back into some blogging and sharing more LPC tips.

As an update, I am working from home until further notice (i.e. until government updates its advice!) and I have adapted to the situation. At first I was quite hesitant about WFH (before the current situation) but it has proven to be easier than I thought, which shows how you can see passed perceived difficulties and get on with it!

On another note, I have been doing a Q&A on Instagram - I will put this in my highlights here. I am planning to share more LPC notes for my electives and general tips. I know there is some anxiety around uncertainty of university assessments and the possibility of online assessments. This will differ from the current mode of assessments for many students so it will require adaptability.

Below are my tips for #openbook assessments:

▶️ Have a contents page for each topic/folder and which workshop you did that topic so that if it comes up as an assessment question, you know which workshop number to go to - easy!

▶️ Place the specimen paper at the front of your file

▶️Ensure that your textbook is tabbed - this is so important as it saves you time and you can easily locate what you are looking for.

▶️ Create checklists/outlines of example questions - base these outlines on workshop tasks because this is what will come up in the exam. I have shared these on my blog and will share more!

▶️ Practice a lot - use any specimen papers as a guide and redo the class tasks.

▶️ Start now! So that you are organised, prepared, knowledgeable and confident in your approach to the questions.
