On the Advanced Real Estate module on the #LPC, Planning Permission (PP) is introduced to us and the situations when it is required.
s 57(1) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1947 - PP is needed for any development
s55(1) a development = carrying out of building, engineering, mining or other operations in, on, over or under land or the making of any material change in use of any buildings or other land

An application for PP is initially made to the Local Planning Authority (LPA). Under section 70, the LPA may grant PP either unconditionally or subject to such conditions as it sees fit.
